Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton is hoping to pen down a new contract with mercedes before Christmas.
The 35 year old is set to become a free agent by the end of the year, and he has expressed his desire to remain with mercedes.
Talks of singing a new contract had been suspended due to issues such as covid-19 lockdown, lot’s of races and also hamilton being on isolation due to the covid-19.
Speaking to reporters he said: “Hopefully over the next couple of weeks,” said Hamilton when asked when he would sit down with Wolff and then announce the new deal.
“I would love…we would love to get it done before Christmas, I think. I plan to be here next year, I want to be here next year.
“As a team, we have more to do together and more to achieve both in the sport but even more outside the sport.
“So I hope we can begin this week, discussions, and hopefully get it tied up before Christmas.”
Hamilton finished third in the Abu Dhabi grand prix, which is the final race of the season.
