Grammy Awards 2021 postponed due to Surge in Covid-19 cases

The Recording Academy has announced a new date for the Grammy Awards, following the recent rise in the covid-19 virus cases in Los Angeles and many places around the world. Coupled with the alleged new virus variants surfacing.
The Grammy Awards event which was initially scheduled to take place on the 31st of January, at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles have been rescheduled till March 14. While Los Angeles has recorded over 40 per cent of the death rate in California due to the virus, Los Angeles County is responsible for more 10,850 deaths of the total 27,000 deaths from coronavirus in California.

The 2021 Grammys will be hosted by Trevor Noah, an awards winning comedian and the host of The Daily Show. This year’s Grammy Awards was led by Beyonce, with a total of 9 category nominations.
According to Health Officials, the new rise in the Covid-19 cases and surfacing variants could be blamed at the gatherings during Christmas parties and New Year’s Eve celebrations.
