Mavin signs new Artist, Ayra Starr shines in new E.P

Mavin Records is gearing up for the new decade, bringing forth another wave of potential Afropop youngsters. The same scheme which brought about the shine of many African mainstream artists, the likes of Wande Coal, D’Prince, Tiwa Savage, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe and more.

The renowned Nigerian music group, Mavin which was founded by the West African music mogul, Don jazzy has signed a new thriving female artist, “Ayra Starr.” With a timeless debut of a new EP named after her. ‘Ayra is the fire raging in our bellies.’

Ayra Starr, the 18 year old singer was born and bred between Lagos and Cotonou. Creating a fusion of two powerful voices in her. Ayra’s new debut EP was named after her. The 5 tracks studio project which is a sneek peak into the world of her burning rage. Ayra Starr raised a soulful Yoruba laced voice and this is just the tip of her hypeberg.

While speaking about the EP, Ayra described the drive to the inspiration of the major track on the “Ayra Starr” EP, “Away.” She described it as a therapy when feeling down.

“I freestyled half of “Away” at a time I was feeling down. It was like therapy.”

She said

“Singing the song out loud was like freeing myself from my burden. “Away” is not just a heartbreak song, it’s a song that empowers you to stand up to that thing or person that is causing you sadness.”
