- Jay-z says he’d like to be remembered amongst some of the industry's 'Greatest of All Time.'
Jay-z at 51 years old, has created for himself one of the longest highly regarded legacies in the history of rap music. Reminiscing about the greatest of his times, the Music Mogul has spoken up on how he would like to be remembered.
Jay-z opened up in an unusual conversation with The Times, during the discussion for the promotion of his new partnership with Puma. On a broad topic of discussion, Jay discussed his opinions on race relations amongst the US, pivoting his life during the pandemic, and his sustained glorification in the Music hall of fame, for decades.
During the rare conversation, Jay-z was asked how he would like to be remembered down in history, he responded with a part rhetoric question, part indefinite answer.
“I have no idea,”he said
“I’m not beyond ego, right?”
he added, trying to find a way to put it without sounding megalomaniacal.
“Hopefully they speak of me [with] the names of Bob Marley and all the Greats. But that’s not for me to say.”
he concluded, with the cognition of the fact that it isn’t up to him to decide how he’s remembered in history.
Hov also discussed his relationship with his wife, Beyoncé and the rest of his immediate family which comprises of three children. Discussing how they have become more connected together than ever, an outcome of the unprecedented event of the Covid 19 pandemic which has helped the family gain focus on it’s togetherness.
“In the beginning, it was time for everyone to sit down and really connect, and really focus on family and being together, and take this time to learn more about each other,”Jay said.
“And then, as it wore on, it’s like, ‘OK, all right, what is the new normal?’ If anything came from this, it’s that we have to recognize that we’re all connected. It’s a metaphor for how connected we are.”He further explained.
